The purpose of hybrid adapters is to make different connectors fit together. If the opposite connectors have different kind of polishing, UPC and APC, they cannot be matched with standard hybrid adapters, but there are special replacement adapters for such purposes as well. Ask more!
SC/APC connector is inserted inside the hybrid adapter, where there is an APC endface against it. On the outside, there is a SC/UPC connector, which is inserted into an adapter.
